Years ago when the TeenAge Truckers Association the foundation of the parent group of the Hazzard County Knytes was formed, we were thee and only voice of the independent truckers. We represented long haul over the road coffee drinking, long night running class 8 owner operator haulers. We were it. Oh sure the original ITA was there and as things went the TTA became sister to the ITA and because of that when old Parkhurst called for the brakes to be pulled nationwide we did. More over though those same news, both TV and Radio that I tried to get interested in what our organization was doing and had no interest once the ITA shutdown story broke nationwide every blooming news organization in the region both Idaho and Utah was on the phone to Hazzard to ask me what the hell wuzz up with that? But no, before that all the asking for air time even willing to pay for air time on either TV or Radio or newsprint all said nope. But how that cat turned blue once it was in their best ratings interest to get in touch with me. Okay so we sit on April 1st 2008 nearly two decades later and fuel is once again on the tip of our tounges and we are wondering where will the upward spiral of fuel prices end. When will we tell not just sweetly ask but flat tell our worldwide economic trading partners even those we ship food to and say cheaper fuel or no more food. We did all this in the mid 1980's. The problem is we really never fixed the problem. We need another way to make big rigs, and all run on something else. Now that said if wages including freight rates that we get paid, tow rates that I get to tow and all which hurts even truckers who I have to tow in, I have to charge more and most of them understand but the fact is where duzz it quit? CH-6 is interested in talking to me, but if I am going to be the revised mouthpiece for the UAITA then I need more from them. More on what that is next exit.
